Synergies between SDGs and the National Recovery and Resilience Plans

The Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under Next Generation EU represents the main instrument that should contribute to the green and digital transformation with the main goal of achieving sustainability and resilience after the pandemic crisis.  In the recent Committee of the Regions (CoR) Opinion ‘’Delivering on the SDGs by 2030’’ the need for more cohesive collaboration between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and all EU policies has been underlined.

This study will assess the integration of the SDGs in the European Semester and the Recovery and Resilience Facility at European, national, regional and local level. One part of the study will focus on the 5 pilot areas (cities and regions) identifying best practices and trends toward the implementation of the SDGs and RRF objectives. This part of the study should help in identifying and overcoming bottlenecks that could arise in achieving coherence between the NRRPs and the SDGs. The study should also provide conclusions on how to improve the integration of the SDGs in the recovery phase.
