Economic study – Analysis of the opportunities and challenges facing East Belgium as a business location

As part of the LEADER programme for 2023–2027, the Economic Development Agency East Belgium (WFG Ostbelgien) has commissioned Spatial Foresight, in cooperation with a team from IW Consult at the German Economic Institute, to conduct a comprehensive economic study. The objective is to analyse the strengths, weaknesses, and future potential of East Belgium as a business location and to develop recommendations for its sustainable economic development. The study combines quantitative data with insights from regional experts and focuses on a detailed location analysis, comparisons with neighbouring regions, and the development of future scenarios. Its findings will inform strategic decision-making and contribute to enhancing the long-term attractiveness of East Belgium as a business hub and a place to live.
